City of Rushville Animal Control

The Rushville Animal Shelter is funded and managed by the City of Rushville. With that, we are able to create, edit, and enforce the ordinances within our city limits. Our only limitations are when it comes to enforcing the State of Indiana Animal Laws. This is because we are not official law enforcement. Only the Rushville Police Department can investigate and enforce the State of Indiana Animal Criminal Laws.

We are only budgeted to be staffed with 4 people. Due to this and all the responsibilities of running an animal shelter and staying open to the public regularly, we do not have staff members drive around looking for violations or stray animals. We depend on the community members to contact us to report their complaints – see below for options.

During our normal business hours, we can offer full-service animal control to those residents within the City of Rushville. This includes taking complaints, collecting strays, writing citations, etc.

After hours, we are only available for EMERGENCY calls that are requested by the Rushville Police Department. If your call does not meet after-hours emergency protocol, you will be asked to call us during normal business hours or call and leave us a voicemail. You will need to call Rushville Police Department Dispatch at 765-932-3907.

If you are in immediate danger, call 911
